Donna Jean Gerrier is a retired speech language pathologist who has a passion for the performing arts. She gave a recital, sang at Opera Ottawa and the Crystal Cathedral in Los Angeles, California. She attended the London Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England. Her dedication to the performing arts was recognized when she received the Canadian Governor General’s Medal for classical singing.
Donna Jean is passionate to end violence towards animals and women. Donna Jean champions the empowerment of women throughout the world.
She gave up her career and classical singing to become her parents’ main caregiver. In caring for her parents, Donna Jean learned that when she gives to others it is really her who receives the gift.
Gerrier’s strong convictions and fierce determination, inherited from her parents, assisted her to survive a near-fatal automobile accident. Following seven months in the hospital and two years of rehabilitation, she fought relentlessly not to be placed in a nursing home, and won the battle.
Donna Jean believes we all have a dream hidden deep within our soul that is meant only for us to fulfill. It is Donna Jean’s vision that the readers of her story will gather inspiration to take the steps necessary to allow their dreams to manifest too–no matter how difficult the circumstances.
Donna Jean says she wrote the book to share her family’s story to help others facing the responsibility of caring for a loved one. There are resources at the back of the book that she hopes will help every family and caregiver.
